Duolingo English Testing is an online test candidates can take using their personal computers. Candidates who are looking to demonstrate their proficiency in English can take the Duolingo English Test which can be taken wherever and whenever is convenient for them. It also tests all four language skills Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking like conventional study abroad exams TOEFL, IELTS, and PTE.
A Duolingo English Test is different from other English Proficiency Tests in that it is conducted all at one time. The 60-minute test is broken down into two sections, which are adaptive test and video interview. The first segment lasts for 45 minutes and the second segment for another 10 minutes.
The first 5 minutes of the test are intended to introduce candidates to the testing procedure and explain the rules and requirements.
The Duolingo English Test is computer-based and designed to measure Reading, Writing, Listening, and Speaking capabilities. The proficiency of test takers is measured using a holistic scale ranging from 0 to 160.
The Duolingo English Test is a 1-hour online test designed to test a candidate’s proficiency in all four aspects of the English Language-Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. The questions also assess a candidate’s ability to apply critical thinking and adaptability. Upon completion of the test, the candidate receives a score ranging from 10-160. This is a complete score and not section-wise. Usually, top programs request a score of at least 120. You may need to check your score in comparison with the IELTS or TOEFL test scores.
PTE Academic test format has three components:
– Speaking & Writing
– Reading
– Listening
The Duolingo English test can be taken within 90 days from the original purchase date. You must follow the registration process below to register for the test.
– Create an account by entering your age, email address and password on the website of Duolingo English test. Click “next” to continue.
– You will then be asked to choose an option from the list “What are you interested in?”.
– Choose your option and click Create Account
– Create the test, purchase it, and pay for it
