Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE) is a computer-based test that the uses task-oriented questions to measures English language proficiency of students or workers who are hoping to study or work abroad. The test has been constructed in such a way that the questions, in many instances, combine different skills, so that the test better assesses a person’s English in realistic situations.

Pearson Language Tests is a unit of Pearson PLC Group responsible for developing three formats of the English proficiency test for non-native speakers of English. You can take three different PTE tests: PTE Academic, PTE Academic UKVI, and PTE Home. Students seeking admission to universities and colleges are required to take the PTE Academic exam every year. The PTE Academic UKVI is a Secure English Language Test (SELT) that is approved by the UK Home Office for all UK visas that require a 4 skill language test. The PTE Home is an English test that the UK Home Office accepts for work and family visas.
The PTE Academic tests a student’s abilities in speaking, writing, reading, and listening. Completing all sections typically takes 3 hours on average. PTE Academic gives you a score from 10–90 on the Global Scale of English, so you can measure your English skills with pinpoint accuracy.
PTE Academic test format has three components:
– Speaking & Writing
– Reading
– Listening
