Dubai looks like an easy choice. It is a short flight from Kathmandu, courses are taught in English, and many campuses carry well-known university names. Then the fee pages start to disagree. One college quotes a price per year, another quotes the whole course, and few explain who sponsors your visa or whether you may work. Some families pay a deposit before they find any of this out.
This guide compares ten institutions with published course and fee information, shows how to check that a programme is recognised, and gives students and parents a realistic planning checklist.
Can Nepali students study in Dubai after +2 or a bachelor’s degree?
Yes. Dubai offers international university branch campuses, local universities and specialist higher education colleges. Nepali students may apply for bachelor’s, master’s, diploma and pathway programmes if they meet the institution’s academic and English requirements.
However, studying in Dubai is not the same as studying in the UK, Australia or Canada. Degree recognition, student residence sponsorship and permission to work need separate checks. A university offer does not guarantee a residence visa, a job or long-term settlement.
Why consider Dubai for higher education?
Dubai has international branch campuses offering degrees in business, computing, engineering, design and other fields. In July 2025, Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) reported 41 licensed international higher education providers, 37 of them branch campuses, and said three more would open in 2025-26. This is a dated sector snapshot, so the current number is likely higher, and it is not a count of every university in the UAE. khda
Students may value the range of programme types and multiple intakes, but they should compare total costs and recognition carefully. Most examples in this guide are private institutions or international branch campuses. Public universities and government colleges have different admissions and eligibility arrangements, so do not assume a government institution accepts every international applicant.

Ten universities and colleges to consider in Dubai
These are practical examples, not a ranking. The tuition figures cover different periods: some are annual and others are total programme fees. Use the totals column to compare them, and remember that annual fees can rise.
| Institution | Example qualification | Published tuition basis | Approx. total tuition (calculated) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai | BBA day programme, 3 years | AED 50,925 per year, September 2026 cohort | AED 152,775 |
| University of Wollongong in Dubai | Bachelor of Computer Science, AI and Big Data | AED 63,449 per year, current published rate | About AED 190,347 if the three-year route applies |
| Murdoch University Dubai | Bachelor of IT, AI and Autonomous Systems | AED 183,480 for the entire course, labelled 2027 [verify] | AED 183,480 as published |
| Curtin University Dubai | Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting | AED 182,700 total programme fee, current schedule | AED 182,700 as published |
| University of Europe for Applied Sciences, Dubai | BSc Digital Business and Data Science | AED 60,882 per year, current published rate [verify] | Depends on programme length, so confirm |
| GBS Dubai | Pearson HND International in Business, 2 years | AED 40,000 per year | AED 80,000 (an HND, not a bachelor’s) |
| Heriot-Watt University Dubai | Business and engineering degrees | Request 2027 course-specific fee | Request a quotation |
| Middlesex University Dubai | Undergraduate degrees, 3 years | AED 64,557 per year for 2026/27 | AED 193,671 |
| American University in Dubai | Undergraduate degrees | AED 106,050 tuition for two regular semesters | Depends on degree length, so confirm |
| University of Dubai | Business and engineering undergraduate degrees | Request course and credit-specific quotation [verify] | Request a quotation |
Calculated totals are simple multiples of the published annual fee. They exclude registration, visa, housing, insurance and future increases, and some institutions include VAT while others may not.
1. Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Dubai
Manipal’s September 2026 fee schedule lists BBA day classes at AED 50,925 per year, a three-year duration and a September intake. Its evening BBA is listed at AED 43,575 annually, with September and February intake options. A four-year BTech in Computer Science Engineering is listed at AED 57,750 per year.
The same fee page lists undergraduate application and registration fees of AED 3,150, plus accommodation options and other charges. For example, triple-occupancy university accommodation is listed at AED 30,000 plus 5% VAT annually, excluding food [verify against the live page]. Confirm 2027 fees, subject prerequisites and whether evening delivery suits the student’s visa and study goals.
2. University of Wollongong in Dubai
UOWD lists a Bachelor of Computer Science in Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, with three-year advanced entry or a four-year integrated freshman route depending on eligibility. The course page lists September, January and April starts and AED 63,449 in indicative yearly fees.
The university advertises bachelor’s merit scholarships covering 15%, 25% or 50% of tuition for selected students, subject to competition and conditions. These are not automatic awards. Get written confirmation of your entry route, total study length and scholarship value.
3. Murdoch University Dubai
Murdoch Dubai’s Bachelor of Information Technology in Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems is an on-campus programme with January, May and September intakes. Its page describes a three-year standard structure and a possible accelerated pathway.
The published total course tuition for 2027 is AED 183,480, including VAT but excluding study materials [verify]. Confirm the workload, whether you qualify for any accelerated option, and the exact award and campus details.
4. Curtin University Dubai
Curtin Dubai’s fee schedule lists several three-year bachelor’s programmes at AED 182,700 for the entire course, including Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security. Some engineering degrees cost more and take longer.
The university also publishes foundation pathways for students who do not meet direct entry conditions. A foundation course is not a bachelor’s degree, and you must meet progression requirements. Check the campus, intake, scholarship and any registration or materials fees.

5. University of Europe for Applied Sciences, Dubai
The Dubai campus lists bachelor’s options in Digital Business and Data Science, Software Engineering, Business and Management Studies, and Design and Management Studies. The published standard tuition is AED 60,882 per year [verify].
Start months vary by programme. The Business and Management Studies bachelor’s page lists January, March, July and September intakes, while Software Engineering lists March and September. Confirm the precise intake, degree-awarding arrangements, entry conditions and any written discount before paying a deposit.

6. GBS Dubai
GBS Dubai lists a Pearson Higher National Diploma in International Business, taught in Dubai over two years, at AED 40,000 per year. Its published intakes include January, March, June and September.
An HND is not a bachelor’s degree. If you hope to complete a bachelor’s top-up later, get written confirmation from the receiving university about credit recognition, progression stage, fees and admission conditions. A lower HND fee should not be compared with a full bachelor’s total as though the qualifications were identical.
Official HND page | Progression information
7. Heriot-Watt University Dubai
Heriot-Watt offers Dubai-campus degree programmes in areas including business and engineering. Its tuition page explains programme fees and additional charges, while its scholarship pages describe awards with specific eligibility and deadlines.
A confirmed 2027 programme-specific fee was not established for this comparison, so request an official quotation for your exact course. A scholarship with a 2026 deadline should not be advertised as available for 2027.
8. Middlesex University Dubai
Middlesex University Dubai publishes AED 64,557 per year for full-time undergraduate study in its 2026/27 schedule, with AED 193,671 as the total tuition for a typical three-year, 360-credit programme. Foundation and postgraduate fees are different.
Check the chosen course, campus, intake and any scholarship or grant in writing. The published 2026/27 figure is not a guaranteed 2027/28 price.
9. American University in Dubai
American University in Dubai publishes undergraduate tuition of AED 53,025 per regular semester, or AED 106,050 for the Fall and Spring semesters, before certain other fees. Its published service and technology fee adds AED 2,000 across the two semesters.
AUD also publishes scholarships for selected applicants, including an undergraduate scholarship open to applicants of all nationalities subject to academic and financial criteria. Do not assume you will receive an award.

10. University of Dubai
University of Dubai offers business and technology-related degrees and publishes scholarships and discounts subject to eligibility. Its official information also describes institution-specific student residence visa charges.
Do not rely on a generic fee estimate for this university. Request the tuition for your exact programme and number of credits. Some scholarships are restricted to UAE nationals or specific groups, while others may be open more widely, so confirm eligibility rather than assuming a headline percentage applies.

Which Dubai course is suitable after NEB +2?
Students from +2 Management may compare business, marketing, accounting, finance and certain information systems courses. Students from +2 Science may explore engineering, computing, cybersecurity and other technical degrees, subject to mathematics or science prerequisites.
Humanities graduates may consider communication, design or selected management degrees, but direct entry is never guaranteed by stream alone. Universities may assess NEB transcripts, subject grades, academic gaps and qualification equivalency. Students without direct entry may need a foundation programme.
Students with a bachelor’s degree can explore postgraduate courses, but universities may assess degree duration, subject relevance, results and work experience. A master’s title does not guarantee admission from any undergraduate subject.
IELTS, PTE and medium of instruction
There is no single IELTS rule for all Dubai universities or for every student residence application. Each institution and programme sets its own admission policy.
For general counselling, Education Tree Global uses IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with no band below 6.0 as an undergraduate planning target, with 6.5 overall and no band below 6.0 as a stronger profile. For master’s applications, its planning target is IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0. The general PTE Academic target is 61 overall and in each skill.
These are ETG planning targets only, not UAE-wide admission or visa rules, and actual programme requirements override them. Third-party listings for some institutions above, such as UOWD’s AI and Big Data degree and Middlesex Dubai, show entry scores around IELTS 6.0, but treat that as a guide and confirm on the university’s own page. Some universities may accept alternative English evidence or an approved English-medium qualification, but an MOI letter should not be assumed to secure admission or a visa.
Cost of living in Dubai for Nepali students
Living costs vary sharply by housing type, location and lifestyle. A recent IDP UAE planning guide suggests approximately AED 3,500 to AED 6,500 per month excluding tuition, while Studyportals lists Dubai at AED 5,300 to 9,200 per month for accommodation, transport, utilities, books and groceries. These are budgeting ranges, not a UAE government financial-evidence requirement.
Illustrative first-year budget using Manipal’s September 2026 BBA day fee:
| Item | Lower estimate (AED) | Higher estimate (AED) |
|---|---|---|
| Tuition | 50,925 | 50,925 |
| Living budget for 12 months | 42,000 (AED 3,500 a month) | 63,600 (AED 5,300 a month) |
| Illustrative subtotal | 92,925 | 114,525 |
This subtotal excludes visa and Emirates ID costs, health insurance, application charges, airfare, books, deposits and possible fee increases. Replace the accommodation and lifestyle assumptions with the student’s actual plan.
For a more transparent family budget, compare each university’s own accommodation quotation, meal costs, transport distance and refund policy. Do not assume part-time earnings will pay the tuition.
Dubai student visa for Nepali students
The UAE government’s student residence guidance, updated 18 February 2026, explains that an international student may study under sponsorship from an eligible resident parent or from an accredited university or college. Institutions normally facilitate the student visa process. The visa is issued for one year at a time and renewed with proof of continued study.
First obtain an admission offer, then request the institution’s current visa sponsorship checklist and written fee breakdown. Some institutions set conditions before sponsorship starts. Murdoch Dubai, for example, requires full-time study, an unconditional offer and payment of all fees due under the Letter of Offer. Documents can include a passport, photos, a university study certificate, medical fitness procedures, insurance and Emirates ID requirements, depending on the case.
There is no single university-independent student visa fee. GBS Dubai, for instance, lists AED 5,500 for visa applications from outside the UAE and AED 6,500 from inside, and other institutions set their own charges. Check whether quoted amounts include insurance, a refundable deposit, medical examinations and renewals. An offer letter is not a visa approval.
Can students work part-time in Dubai?
Do not assume a student residence visa automatically permits unrestricted employment. The UAE issues work permits, including part-time permits, and eligibility depends on your sponsor, your employer and the relevant authority. Some institutions publish their own arrangements. Murdoch Dubai states that students can work part-time up to 20 hours a week in companies under the Dubai Development Authority, subject to approval. That is one university’s rule, not a UAE-wide limit.
Before accepting paid work, ask the university and the employer to confirm the legal work-permit route and the weekly hours allowed. Do not advertise or plan around a fixed weekly figure without checking the actual permit.
What happens after graduation? Jobs, residence and PR
Dubai does not give every international graduate an automatic post-study work visa equivalent to the UK’s Graduate route or Canada’s PGWP. Graduates normally need a lawful immigration basis for continued residence, such as an eligible employment arrangement or another qualifying visa.
The UAE also has a jobseeker visit visa with 60-, 90- or 120-day options and no sponsor required. The minimum education level is a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and other criteria apply, so it is not automatic for every graduate. Exceptional students may qualify for particular Golden Visa categories under separate rules.
A university degree, internship, job offer, long-term residence and permanent settlement are separate matters. No university can guarantee them.
Check degree recognition before paying a deposit
Dubai has different regulatory and quality-assurance routes for international branch campuses and locally accredited institutions. KHDA regulates relevant institutions and programmes in Dubai, while the Commission for Academic Accreditation has a separate federal role.
Verify the exact programme in the relevant official directory and ask whether the qualification will be recognised for your purpose, such as postgraduate study, professional licensing or employment in another country. Do not assume that a campus’s foreign parent-university name means the Dubai programme has identical professional recognition everywhere.
Scholarships for Nepali students in Dubai
Several institutions publish merit scholarships or tuition discounts. For example, UOWD publishes 15%, 25% and 50% bachelor’s merit-scholarship categories, while AUD and University of Dubai describe competitive awards with specific conditions.
A scholarship may cover tuition only, apply for a limited period or depend on maintaining grades. Ask whether it is renewable, what the minimum grades are, and whether it can be combined with other discounts. Never include an unconfirmed scholarship in the family’s required budget.
How to apply from Nepal
Start with the student’s academic transcripts, passport, course preferences and financial budget. Compare at least three institutions on the same basis: total tuition for the full qualification, recognition, campus, programme content, intake and accommodation.
Request a written academic eligibility assessment, and ask which of your Nepali documents need attestation. If you need an English test, prepare for the actual course standard rather than a generic minimum. Check scholarship conditions and refund policies before paying. Also check whether you need a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Nepal’s Ministry of Education before you travel.
After admission, get the institution’s current student residence sponsorship checklist. Confirm the costs of medical testing, insurance, Emirates ID and renewal, then plan travel and accommodation.
Parents’ checklist
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Exact awarding institution and qualification | A diploma and a bachelor’s degree are different awards |
| KHDA or relevant regulatory status | Confirms the programme’s regulatory route |
| Total tuition across all years | Avoids confusing annual and total fees |
| 2027 intake and campus | Course availability can change |
| English and academic requirements | Admission depends on the exact course |
| Scholarship letter and renewal conditions | Discounts are not automatic |
| Visa sponsorship and refund policy | Limits unexpected financial exposure |
| Accommodation and food budget | Living expenses may be substantial |
| Legal permission to work | Student residence alone is not an open work permit |
| Post-graduation plans | No automatic job or PR guarantee |
Frequently asked questions
Can I study in Dubai after +2 from Nepal?
Potentially yes. Universities assess the student’s qualification, subjects, grades and English evidence.
Does a UAE residence visa let me travel to Europe?
No. Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates, and a UAE residence visa does not provide Schengen travel rights.
Can I study in Dubai without IELTS?
Some programmes accept other English evidence, but this depends on the institution. MOI is not a universal exemption.
What is the cheapest university in Dubai?
There is no single reliable cheapest option across every qualification. Compare the full award and total fees. A two-year HND should not be presented as a cheaper equivalent to a three-year bachelor’s degree.
Can I bring my spouse?
Do not plan on bringing family members unless the university and the UAE immigration authorities confirm a route in writing. Sponsorship and accommodation requirements apply, so confirm the individual visa route before planning family travel.
Can I work while studying?
Only when the relevant legal work permission applies. Ask the institution and the employer before beginning paid employment.
Does a Dubai degree guarantee a job or permanent residence?
No. Employment and immigration decisions are separate.
Is a foreign university’s Dubai campus the same as its home campus?
Not automatically for every regulatory or professional purpose. Verify the exact qualification, awarding institution and recognition in the country where you plan to use it.
Final advice
Dubai may suit Nepali students seeking international study options in business, technology, engineering and creative fields. The right choice depends on the exact qualification, recognised programme, academic eligibility, complete cost and a realistic career plan.
